Boarding Services

At Palmetto Animal Hospital, our highly qualified kennel attendants take the time to feed, nurture, and lavish attention on your animal companions when you can't be there. Our Boarding Services

Palmetto Animal Hospital - Boarding Services

Our boarders receive constant attention from on-site kennel technicians - even on the weekends! Your pet is always cared for and enjoys complete comfort in our climate-controlled facility. With safety as our first concern, we offer a double-fenced, double-latched yard with kennel areas for the safest possible exercise and outdoor fun for dogs. If your dog is a climber, features include covered cages as well. Our cats lounge out of their cages for free time - pet families can even socialize together, if you choose. And all boarders may enjoy a relaxing bath before returning home.

Palmetto Animal Hospital's boarding facility is often booked well in advance, so please call us early to schedule kennel space for your pet. For the health and safety of all boarders, we ask that you understand and follow the policies listed below.

Requirements For Your Pet

Your pet must:

  • Be at least 15-18 weeks old (depending on vaccine history)
  • Be in good overall health
  • Be free of fleas, ticks, and all communicable diseases
  • Be friendly towards other dogs and people, and not protective of toys or space
  • Be up-to-date with proof of all required vaccinations:
    • Rabies (Dogs & Cats)
    • Canine Distemper/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza (Dogs Only)
    • Bordetella (Dogs Only)
    • Feline Leukemia (Cats Only)

You must have a copy of the current vaccination record within 5 days of your pet's check-in date to hold a reservation. Please note, we do not allow female pets that are actively in heat to board unless medically necessary due to safety concerns for staff, other animals and the individual pet themselves.

Our boarding services include a Capstar to prevent fleas and a boarding examination by a veterinary technician as needed.

NOTE: An outbreak of kennel cough has been affecting local canine populations.

What You Need To Know:

  • Watch for symptoms such as a persistent, unproductive "honk-like" cough, runny nose, sneezing, lack of energy, decreased appetite, and mild fever.
  • Be aware that exposure is possible at places like dog parks and boarding facilities.
  • Ensure your dog is up to date on their Bordatella vaccine (this helps prevent some strains of kennel cough).

Pet Bathing Services

Treat your pet to a luxurious bath at Palmetto Animal Hospital for a pampering service that emphasizes healthy hygiene for skin and coat.

Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris, and that doggie pet odor - your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that stop the itch.

A pet that looks great, smells good, and feels terrific is a joy to be around - treat your animal companion to a basic bathing with us.

Why We Use Capstar

Protection from fleas is an important part of keeping your pet healthy and happy. The most common external parasite found on dogs and cats, fleas cause your pet to feel uncomfortable and carry other illnesses or tapeworms. If left untreated, a few fleas on your pet will quickly lead to a full-blown infestation in your home as well.

Eliminating fleas on your pet is easy with Capstar® (nitenpyram). It begins to work within 30 minutes to kill adult fleas. You will literally see fleas falling off your pet!

Read more about parasites and protecting your pets and family at the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) website, a non-profit organization of veterinary professionals.
